Cappagh beach is a hidden gem. Small and sheltered, Cappagh provides a nice contrast to Kerry’s bigger and better known beaches.
The water here is clear and was perfectly calm when we visited. There was a gradual wade in and soft sand underfoot. It seems like a good place for kids to splash and play.
When we visited the tide was out and there were a number of pools and rocks for young, and old, people to explore.
Both the beach and car park are small. There were just a few people there on a sunny day in July, but maybe it does get busier. This is the kind of place you want to keep to yourself.
Directions
From Tralee take the N86 toward Dingle and then branch off onto the R560 toward Castlegregory. You by pass Castlegregory and after you go through Stradbally and Kilcummin you then take a right turning onto the R550 toward Cloghane and Brandon Point. After you go through Cloghane watch out for a right turn a couple of kilometres further on which has a half hidden signpost for the beach.
